Laryngectomy and Tracheostomy

You can access dedicated and empathetic assistance designed to guide you through every aspect of living with a tracheostomy or laryngectomy. I offer dedicated, clinic, home and community-based laryngectomy care tailored to your specific needs and environment. My objective is to enhance your ability to communicate clearly, prioritize your safety, and help you regain a sense of independence in your everyday activities.

I work in close partnership with referring public and private health services to deliver seamless care within the comfort of your home and local community. This collaborative approach ensures you receive consistent, individualised support that bridges the gap between hospital treatment and daily life.

Stoma & Humidification

I provide practical support with day-to-day stoma care, tracheostomy care and humidification to help keep your airway comfortable and healthy. This will include exploring HME and attachment options, external humidification options and additional equipment as required.

Together, we’ll build routines for cleaning, equipment use and troubleshooting common issues, so you and your support network feel confident managing your stoma and humdification at home and in the community.

Communication

I will work with you to explore new ways to communicate, including voice prostheses, electrolarynx devices, tracheosotmy speaking valves and electronic communication options.

Voice Prothesis Management

As part of your laryngectomy care, I can independently assess and change your voice prosthesis, either in clinic or at home if needed. This allows you to access timely, specialised support in the setting that feels safest and most comfortable for you.

Swallow Assessment and Management

I offer comprehensive swallow assessment, including instrumental studies such as videofluoroscopy and Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), to understand your swallowing in detail. From there, we can work together on rehabilitation and compensatory strategies tailored to your goals, while I communicate closely with your wider multidisciplinary team to support safe, coordinated and holistic management.

Education and Training

Funding

I have extensive experience providing training and education to carers, including nursing home staff and family members, so they feel confident providing you with the support you need. Together we focus on practical skills, early signs of concern and everyday strategies that promote safety, comfort and quality of life in the settings where you live and receive care.

These services can be accessed under a range of funding options, including NDIS, DVA and TAC, depending on your eligibility and support needs. I can also assist with SWEP funding applications and ordering to help you purchase the laryngectomy equipment you require.
